Creating Ruin documents Lada Nakonechna’s residency for Reading International at the Abbey ruins in Reading between June and October 2018. During this time this website will develop into an online publication and will include contributions from the public and other artists, thereby connecting historical and contemporary references as well as new symbolic possibilities for the way we interpret cultural monuments.

Reading International Online Video Screenings

Over the next months we will be screening an online programme of video works, which demonstrate different states of ‘ruin’, showing fragments of lives in contemporary Ukraine, where everyday relations, war, and mass manipulation have become inseparable and the rhetoric of capitalism is fused with that of national heritage.
